Bundle up and head to the Canmore Recreation Centre to catch a Canmore Eagles ice hockey game. This local junior team always has a great home crowd cheering them on, and the atmosphere is always great! Grab a hot dog, cheer on the home team, and experience a Canadian Ice Hockey Game up close.

Ice skating is a classic Canadian winter activity, and Canmore offers some beautiful outdoor rinks to enjoy . Our favourite is ‘ The Pond ’ in downtown Canmore—a natural but maintained ice surface, with a heated gazebo to get your slates on. Be sure to always check rink conditions before heading out.

Technically not Canmore, but a short drive into Kananaskis you’ll find one of our favourite winter hikes, Grotto Canyon . Trek through the beautiful Canyon with the promise of an epic frozen waterfall at the end, you might even catch some ice climbers in action whilst you are there. With little to no incline this is an easy one for all ages, just be sure to wrap up warm and have crampons at the ready as it can get a little icy.

Canmore is renowned for its Nordic skiing trails, and the Canmore Nordic Centre offers a world-class experience. Whether you're a seasoned skier or trying it for the first time, Nordic Skiing is a workout you won't forget. They have a rental shop on site which is reasonably priced if you don’t want to invest in the gear just yet, but a warning comes with this one, you’ll be hooked!
